Between the Waters Bike Tour

Active & Adventurous - Let Me Out!

Enjoy & Support Virginia's Eastern Shore

Eastern Shore VA view from Eyre HallEnjoy a beautiful bike ride along the Eastern Shore of Virginia this fall while supporting the area’s natural resources, as part of the Between the Waters Bike Tour. The ride, with 25-, 40-, or 60-, or 100-mile routes, begins in the historic waterfront town of Onancock in Accomack County, Virginia on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Sponsored by Citizens for a Better Eastern Shore (CBES), the ecotourism event is the group’s major fundraiser for the year.

The routes offer peaceful, scenic, and easy rides, winding through historic towns and along back roads to scenic rest stops, on flat roads with little vehicle traffic. The Between the Waters Bike Tour offers view of both sides of the Delmarva Peninsula, of the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay.

Riders receive a map and detailed cue sheet and an event T-shirt designed by local artist Miriam Riggs. SAG stops along the way will offer liquids, light snacks and toileting facilities. Lunch is available as well. Professional bike services from Salisbury Cycle & Fitness will be available at the start and finish and at the lunch stop. Service vehicles will be available throughout the day to assist riders as well.

Onancock, the hub of the race, is a quaint, historic town on a deep-water creek leading out to the Chesapeake Bay. It offers friendly bed and breakfast accommodations, restaurants, shopping, and a multitude of outdoor activities.
